Celebration marking the tenth anniversary of the Foundation "Memory, Responsibility, Future"

The tenth anniversary of the foundation “Memory, Responsibility, Future” was celebrated today in Berlin in the presence of the Federal Minister of Finance, Dr Wolfgang Schäuble. We present the speech given there by IAC President Noach Flug:

"Ladies and Gentlemen, memory is like water: it is essential to life and it finds its own way to new spaces and to different people. Memory is always concrete: it is alive with faces, and places, odours and sounds. It has no expiry date, and no official resolution can declare it to be finally processed or ultimately closed."

At the celebratory event Dr Jörg Freiherr Frank von Fürstenwerth, who spoke on behalf of the foundation initiative of the German business sector, called for „a new initiative“ to support the victims of Nazi persecution in their old age: "In view of the current plight of many victims, what is there to prevent us from successfully shouldering our historical responsibility once again?"
