IAC is included in list compiled by right-wing terrorists

It was with shock and dismay that the International Auschwitz Committee read the notice today from the State Criminal Investigation Department (LKA) in Berlin. It stated that the International Auschwitz Committee is included in the lists compiled by the right-wing terrorists of the "National Socialist Underground" (Nationalsozialistischer Untergrund).

In Berlin, the Executive Vice-President of the International Auschwitz Committee Christoph Heubner stressed:

"The worldview of the neo-Nazi terrorists, their ice-cold hatred, their enemy images and their will to annihilate, all point towards Auschwitz. In one of their videos they wrote the name of the "Nationalsozialistischer Untergrund" in lettering that consciously imitates the cynical sign "Arbeit macht frei" (work sets you free) fixed above the entrance gate to Auschwitz concentration camp. Thus they have clearly defined their ultimate message to democratic society: the final destruction of all their opponents.

The International Auschwitz Committee and the survivors of the German concentration camps who are organised in the committee consciously chose Berlin as the centre for their activities. In Germany they enjoy the right to hospitality. And they are grateful for this. We sincerely hope that those responsible in the state, the police, the judiciary and in society now recognise this long overlooked and downplayed dimension of neo-Nazi terror and its networks, and act resolutely."
