Attack in Hamburg: Anti-Semitic hatred is eating its way deeper into the world
In Berlin Christoph Heubner, Executive Vice President of the International Auschwitz Committee, made the following statement after the attack on a Jewish student in front of the synagogue in Hamburg:
“For Holocaust survivors the thought is deeply distressing that Jewish people and Jewish institutions in Germany still cannot be sufficiently protected to prevent the perpetrator from approaching the synagogue and attacking his victim. But they find it even more disconcerting that this attack was based on the same anti-Semitic hatred and the same desire to kill as the attacks in Pittsburgh and Halle. The Holocaust survivors are horrified that this anti-Semitic hatred and the violence it generates is obviously eating its way deeper into the world and is spreading around the globe.”
