It is with increasing concern that Holocaust survivors in the International Auschwitz Committee are following the radicalisation of the AfD and the openly increasing collaboration between the AfD, national socialist and right-wing extremist groupings. The survivors find it particularly disturbing that in this connection the police and the Office for the Protection of the Constitution were surprised by this strategically planned and tightly organised development.

During a working stay at the Auschwitz Memorial Christoph Heubner, the Executive Vice President of the International Auschwitz Committee said:

"The alarm bells are sounding loud and clear in the ears of the Auschwitz survivors as they register the massive spread of hatred and the strategic efforts of the AfD to mobilise people on the streets with their calls from inside the Bundestag. Whoever still believes they can play down and minimize the outcome of this strategy, as manifested in Chemnitz, has failed to understand anything at all. It is high time that the Office for the Protection of the Constitution recognizes the days of violence in Chemnitz as a turning point and finally fulfils its task of keeping enemies of the constitution under observation, not only in Thuringia."
