Commenting in Berlin on today’s statements and Holocaust comparison by Palestinian President Abbas during a press conference with Federal Chancellor Scholz, Christoph Heubner, Executive Vice President of the International Auschwitz Committee, said:

“President Abbas deliberately used the political stage in Berlin to discredit Germany’s remembrance culture and the country’s relations with the state of Israel. With his disgraceful and utterly inappropriate Holocaust comparison, Abbas has again attempted to feed anti-Israeli and anti-Semitic aggressions in Germany and Europe. It is astonishing and disconcerting to see that the German side was not prepared for Mr Abbas’s provocations and that his statements on the Holocaust went unanswered.”
