Tribute to György Konrad: He gave a clear, intense and captivating voice to the history of all Holocaust survivors
On the death of the Hungarian-Jewish writer György Konrad, Christoph Heubner, the Executive Vice President of the International Auschwitz Committee paid tribute in Berlin as follows:
"Holocaust survivors throughout the world bid farewell with sadness and gratitude to their friend and companion György Konrad. As a writer and witness of the times, he gave a clear, intense and captivating voice to the history of them all. Shaped by his love of humanity which distinguished him especially in the face of his own personal experiences, Konrad always wanted to enlighten the world and his fellow human beings with his indestructible words concerning the horrors and consequences of anti-Semitic hatred. We shall bitterly miss his voice, especially in these days."
