Commenting in Berlin on the sentence passed by the Naumburg Higher Regional Court on the Halle attacker, Christoph Heubner, the Executive Vice President of the International Auschwitz Committee said:
“For survivors of the Holocaust this is an appropriate verdict based on the realistic assessment of the continuing lethal potential of the perpetrator. Above all, it is also a judgement that will remind people far beyond the borders of Germany how quickly anti-Semitic hatred can explode into murderous actions in this networked world. Particularly the survivors of the Holocaust and their families are well aware even after this verdict: The toxin of anti-Semitism is still endangering us all.”
