Auschwitz survivors in the International Auschwitz Committee have emphatically welcomed the court judgement passed today in Munich against the leaders of the right-wing extremist "Oldschool Society".
Christoph Heubner, Executive Vice President of the IAC said in Berlin:
"The Auschwitz survivors strongly welcome the classification and conviction of the group as a terrorist organisation. Especially in view of the current confrontation with radical Nazi groups that are prepared to use violence, it needs to be made perfectly clear that all democrats in Germany have an interest in tackling these groups with unequivocal consequence and determination. The Auschwitz survivors are deeply shocked at the potential for violence that is generated by the anti-Semitic hatred of the groups. For this reason this judgement also possesses a Europe-wide signal character that extends beyond the right-wing extremist scene."
