Commenting on Mark Zuckerberg’s remarks on the conflict between Twitter and the American President, and labelling anti-Semitic contents and flagging posts glorifying violence on facebook itself, Christoph Heubner, Executive Vice President of the International Auschwitz Committee, said in Berlin:

“The attitude and public comments made by Mark Zuckerberg are causing increasing outrage amongst Holocaust survivors. Mark Zuckerberg already refused to withdraw platforms from Holocaust deniers as early as 2018. His bizarre arguments postulated that the facebook world must also be kept open for the lies and hatred of old and neo-Nazis.

Now the conflict with the unteachable Mark Zuckerberg and his crude worldview is escalating once again. Even some members of his staff are turning away from him in view of the current outbreak of racist violence in the USA, because Zuckerberg refuses to back away from his absurd and unrealistic comments in the controversy between the Twitter social networking service and the American President. In view of facebook’s powerful position, it is alarming how smugly and blindly Mark Zuckerberg is fumbling around in a world of racist and anti-Semitic hatred, blatant populist lies and right-wing extremist conspiracy theories.”
