Holocaust survivors across the world are bidding farewell to their companion and fellow sufferer Inge Detschkron. They are eternally grateful to her, and they are expressing their heartfelt affection and respect at her passing. During a stay at Auschwitz Memorial, Christoph Heubner, Executive Vice President of the International Auschwitz Committee, paid tribute to her as follows:

“Inge Deutschkron spoke out with great fortitude for humanity and remembrance. Her ability and her stamina to repeatedly tell her story and that of the persecution of so many Jewish people in the Nazi years, as well as remembering those who helped them in their time of need, profoundly impressed generations of young people. And, faced with the increasing re-emergence of anti-Semitism in Germany, Inge Deutschkron spoke out in the defence of democracy with a clear and unwavering voice, yet never with hatred. We will sadly miss this unmistakable voice.”
