On receiving the news of the death of Margot Friedländer, Christoph Heubner, Executive Vice President of the International Auschwitz Committee, stated in Berlin:

“Holocaust survivors all over the world are bidding farewell to their fellow sufferer and companion Margot Friedländer with deepest affection, gratitude and admiration. Margot Friedländer was an important witness of her time and of ours. With her quiet, yet very clear message of remembrance and human kindness, her dignity and her inspiring presence, she touched many people and invariably outshone the darkness and ignorance of right-wing extremist and anti-Semitic hatred. We will sorely miss the quiet, resolute voice of this small, great woman. Her message will endure:

Be a human being!”
