During a working stay at the Auschwitz Memorial, Christoph Heubner, Executive Vice President of the International Auschwitz Committee stated:

"The AfD and its main clientele are increasingly emerging as offshoots of the brown far-right core whose activities should be observed by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution. This is evidenced not only by the ranting public appearances of Frau Weidel’s party colleagues at the Sachsenhausen Memorial which yet again insult the Holocaust survivors and clearly show that anti-Semitism and Holocaust denial are widespread ways of thinking in the AfD. Tomorrow’s demonstrations in Chemnitz, to which Herr Höcke and other regional chairmen of the AfD have called their followers, along with Pegida, will again clearly illustrate the sleazy and inflammatory role the AfD is playing by fuelling a social climate of potential violence. It will become blatantly obvious that the AfD with Herr Höcke and Pegida are bringing hatred to the streets."
