According to the latest surveys, there are around 197,000 Jewish Holocaust survivors worldwide. This is according to data collected by the Jewish Claims Conference and published in the run-up to International Holocaust Remembrance Day and the 81st anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau.
The figures were compiled from more than 90 countries. The data shows that 50 per cent of these survivors live in Israel, 18 percent in North America, and 17 percent in Western Europe.
The data provides a present-day snapshot of the global population of Holocaust survivors. It includes total numbers, gender demographics, geographic distribution, and key figures relating to compensation and care.
