On 1 October 2014 the Polish Ambassador Jerzy Margański awarded the Knight’s Cross to Ines Doberanzke in recognition of her many years of dedication to German-Polish reconciliation and especially for her “achievements in conveying knowledge about Auschwitz extermination camp.” Ines Doberanzke coordinates the work at Volkswagen Group Academy with the work at the memorial in Oświęcim/Auschwitz; she works closely together with the International Auschwitz Committee.
Christoph Heubner, Executive Vice President of the IAC said: “Survivors from Auschwitz proposed Ines Doberanzke for this award. Her dedication and involvement, her competence and empathy, have made her a confidante and friend of the Holocaust survivors.”
