Speaking in Berlin on the 100th birthday of Auschwitz survivor Anita Lasker-Wallfisch, Christoph Heubner, Executive Vice President of the International Auschwitz Committee, said:
“Auschwitz survivors around the world are filled with joy, respect and gratitude as they send their congratulations to their fellow sufferer and companion Anita Lasker-Wallfisch on her 100th birthday. Meanwhile, her memories and her clear words have reached people in many countries. Her messages are also encouraging many people, especially in these days, to stand up against right-wing extremist and anti-Semitic hatred. With her music and her words, Anita Lasker-Wallfisch has become a voice of survivors and humanity – and it is resonating around the world. Anita Lasker-Wallfisch is a glowing and touching example of how Holocaust survivors refuse to be silenced, despite their age, and refuse to be wearied, despite their growing fears.”
