Holocaust survivors in the International Auschwitz Committee are shocked and extremely concerned at the results of the study on anti-Semitism carried out by the Technical University Berlin which was presented today.
In response, Christoph Heubner, the Executive Vice President of the IAC said:
"Now in their very old age and in view of their own murderous experiences of exclusion, hatred and persecution, the survivors of the German concentration and extermination camps are finding it extremely harrowing to be confronted with an increasing resurgence of anti-Semitic brutalization. The study focuses our attention on an ever deepening quagmire of hatred and a willingness to resort to violence towards Jewish people, not only on the Internet. The results of the study are all the more devastating in that they correspond with the experiences in many other countries around the globe concerning the development and forms of expression of anti-Semitism. It remains to be seen whether these loud and blatantly obvious warning signals are heard not only by people in politics and the network operators, but also by all of the people who become involved and position themselves in society and in the Internet."
