Speaking in Berlin on the occasion of the newly passed anti-Semitism resolution by the German Bundestag, Christoph Heubner, Executive Vice President of the International Auschwitz Committee said:
"For Holocaust survivors, the adoption of the anti-Semitism resolution by the German Bundestag is good news and an important gesture in menacing times. In many countries, Jewish citizens are being threatened on a daily basis by anti-Semitic hatred. In many countries, aggressive slogans are being chanted calling for the end of the state of Israel and its citizens.
All those who are now decrying this Bundestag resolution as a threat to artistic freedom and cultural engagement remained conspicuously silent when, in past decades, various boycott movements were aiming to exclude not the government of Israel but all citizens of the state of Israel from the cultural world and political dialogue."
