Invitation to the exhibition

72nd Anniversary of the Liberation of Auschwitz

‘I can’t just carry on walking like this here’
Verena Bittenbinder, 19, trainee, in August 2016 in Auschwitz.

Signalling the start of the worldwide remembrance ceremonies that mark the 72nd anniversary of the Liberation of Auschwitz and the 12th International Holocaust Remembrance Day, the International Auschwitz Committee in cooperation with the German Resistance Memorial Center and the International Youth Meeting Centre in Oświęcim/Auschwitz invites visitors to the opening of the exhibition

‘Shoes, bricks, me – Reflections from Auschwitz’.

Survivors of the camp and young visitors to the Memorial – trainees with Volkswagen and polish vocational college students from Bielsko-Biała – provide accounts from different perspectives about memories and experiences in Auschwitz past and present. And they tell of their hopes, questions and expectations for now and the future.

We kindly invite you to the exhibition which will be opened by the Chairman of the SPD and German Vice Chancellor Sigmar Gabriel and the Auschwitz survivor Professor Felix Kolmer (Prague).
