On the fourth anniversary of the murder of Walter Lübcke on 2 June 2019, Christoph Heubner, Executive Vice President of the International Auschwitz Committee, said in Berlin:
"Even after four years, the murder of Walter Lübcke still remains a very vicious and open wound in the everyday life of the Federal Republic of Germany. And it confronts the democratic parties in this country with an incisive question: how do they intend to combat far-right extremist hatred and the political migration of citizens to right-wing narrow-mindedness and xenophobia. And on this fourth anniversary of Walter Lübcke’s murder, the International Auschwitz Committee is renewing its appeal and its demand, to name buildings and streets after Walter Lübcke, in order to honour this outstanding representative of a free and open society, and to visibly counter hatred with his name and his firm democratic stance."
