In Berlin Christoph Heubner, Executive Vice President of the International Auschwitz Committee commented on today’s police raids initiated by Bavaria’s criminal investigation office and directed against anti-Semitic hate speech and incitement to violence on the internet:
"Holocaust survivors the current upsurge of anti-Semitic hate speech and incitement to violence on the internet as far more than a dangerous development. For this reason they are extremely grateful to the action taken today by the Bavarian police.
In the current situation it is very important for the democratic state to issue a red card against anti-Semitic hatred and to add emphasis through demonstrative police interventions. Those who use the internet to incite hatred and violence against Jewish people will come up against the determination and resilience of the democratic state, especially since today’s raids have indicated that old and new Nazis are also willingly joining forces with Islamic extremists in a shared hatred."
