Commenting on today’s statements by CDU leader Friedrich Merz on collaborating with the AfD at local political level, Christoph Heubner, Executive Vice President of the International Auschwitz Committee said:

"Today’s unrealistic and negligent statements by Friedrich Merz clearly show that he still hasn’t managed to get wise to the destructive strategies of the AfD. No matter where or at which level of activity, the AfD doesn’t give a jot about the common good of all citizens and the shaping of democracy. This party is essentially driven by agitation that generates division and hatred. Respect and support are due to all those members of his party, and of the other democratic parties, who take a decisive stand against him."
