Pope Francis gives courage in a clearly worded letter against intolerance, hatred and xenophobia
Holocaust survivors in the International Auschwitz Committee are grateful, moved and motivated by the Pope’s emphatic message to the World Meeting of Popular Movements.
Christoph Heubner, the executive vice president of the International Auschwitz Committee, said in Berlin:
"Amidst the din of exaggerated generalisations and the intolerance of populist rantings in many countries, it comes as a sign of encouragement to the Holocaust survivors to hear the clear and humane voice of Pope Francis, and gives them hope that they are not fighting for a lost cause in this world. They feel a great affinity with Pope Francis in their shared commitment to the dignity and rights of all people and in the confrontations with racial hatred, xenophobia and intolerance."
